Hi there! My name is Rebecca Duffy and I am a senior Journalism and Communication double-major at UMass Amherst. I’m studying to become a broadcast journalist. This portfolio is a collection of my audio work, including radio stories and a full episode of one of my podcasts. You can find my contact information at the bottom of this page.

My Work

Radio Story: Two Different Lives

Senior Journalism Student at UMass Amherst Bonnie Chen grew up in Queens, New York. After spending two weeks as a freshman at Bayside High School in Queens, she and her family moved to Long Island. It did not take long for Chen to notice the racial and educational differences between the two areas. I interviewed Chen over the phone about her experiences and how she lived two very different lives at those high schools.

Radio Story: How Student Government Association’s fully-remote 2020 election affected candidate’s campaigns

For the first time in the history, UMass Amherst’s Student Government Association (SGA) held an entirely virtual presidential election in 2020. I spoke to SGA President Sonya Epstein, Presidential Candidate Kyle Kendall and Vice Presidential Candidate Sean Vo over Zoom about how being virtual affected their campaigns.

Podcast: Who is the Infamous Jane Doe Known as ‘Granby Girl?’

In my podcast, Mass. Murders, I explore all the spine-tingling true crime cases that exist in my home state of Massachusetts. The first episode is about Granby Girl, an unidentified murder victim that was killed in 1978 in the town of Granby. I conducted a Zoom interview with a woman who dedicated many years of her life to giving the Jane Doe her name back. If you love all things twisted, creepy, and down-right terrifying, then give this episode a listen!
